Statement

Being an avid outdoorsman, Lorenzo desires to capture the beauty of the outside world by creating landscape/outdoor scene paintings of the Midwest and other areas observed while travelling and exploring. His main medium of choice is oils while also completing on-site studies in gouache and watercolor. When uusing oils to complete a painting or study work, he uses the palette knife for about 90% of the painting and adds brushwork for various effects and final detail. Lorenzo’s style is loose and borders on impressionistic, he uses a somewhat limited palette of colors and prefers to mix on the canvas to achieve value and hue changes as desired. Regarding color, he uses complementary color mixing which allows for a more cohesive painting and subject matter.
